SEPTIC SYSTEMS

At Cleburne Septic, we’re not dabbling in septic systems.  Whether your lot is wide open and has great soil conditions or you have a lot with deed restrictions and poor soil conditions that demand something other than a conventional lateral system, Cleburne Septic offers the best and right solutions.

AEROBIC SYSTEMS
NOT ALL AEROBIC SYSTEMS ARE THE SAME.

Cleburne Septic is proud to be an authorized Norweco manufacturer, distributor and installer.  Norweco developed the  first aerobic system over 50 years ago and still leads the industry today with an advanced system that is superior to other systems in the market. High quality water treatment and component reliability make the Norweco Aerobic Treatment System our choice in aerobics. You can check out the Norweco Aerobic System at: Norweco.com.  Ever wonder what the “tank in the ground” really looks like?  You can click on the images below for an even larger look!

NOT ALL INSTALLERS ARE THE SAME.

We’re committed to the long-term performance of your aerobic system. Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) regulations require two years of warranty and inspection of your new aerobic system. We fulfill that requirement on every installation and offer a continuing inspection program to ensure the proper operation of your system for life.

NOT ALL INSTALLATIONS ARE THE SAME.

At Cleburne Septic, we won’t cut corners. Careful system layout and proper installation using quality materials are essential to ensure worry-free operation.

AEROBIC INSTALLATION – WHAT TO EXPECT

Homebuilders and homeowners often learn all the integral elements of an aerobic installation after the installer has come and gone, failing to complete the job. Our goal is to completely finish the installation to the highest standards, anticipating that we will maintain the system for the life of the home. We want to educate you on all of the facets of an installation so all expectations are met.

WHAT NEEDS TO HAPPEN BEFORE THE INSTALLATION?

On-Site Review
A Cleburne Septic representative will meet you onsite to discuss the layout of the system and installation procedures. That discussion should include the following:

  • Where to locate the tank(s), sprinklers and control panel
  • Identify any unmarked utilities or other items that might affect the installation
  • What to do with leftover dirt (leave, spread or haul)
  • Discuss options for settling of dirt around the tanks
  • Ensure that the tank truck can access the installation site
  • Projected installation date (always weather permitting)

Electrical Requirements
Aerobic systems require a dedicated 110 amp. electrical stub-out with a 30 amp. breaker.

How long will the installation take and how long will my system be down?
Typically, aerobic installations are completed in 1-2 days. On some occasions our cover-up crew may finish the      installation on a second day. When we replace existing systems, your home is usually out of sewer service for less than half a day.

What will my lawn look like?

Expect to replace sod in the area of the installation. We’re bringing in heavy equipment and excavating a lot of      dirt. We will smooth the soil as neatly as possible, but expect to see a large area of dirt around the installation site.

What about my sprinkler system?
Heavy equipment operators can not avoid digging into sprinkler lines and sprinkler heads. We will try our best to identify damaged sprinkler lines or components, but plan on calling your irrigation company to make any necessary repairs and test the irrigation system.

Yikes! The tank settled!
It is normal for dirt to settle around tanks. Only time and weathering can fully compact the soil around tanks. We highly recommend back-filling around the tanks with sand at the installation when possible. While sand will still settle, the effects will be minimal in comparison.

We will be back.
We want to meet the homeowner after installation for an orientation on the system. Please call our office to arrange a time and date.

CONVENTIONAL SYSTEMS

When a good absorption field is available, a conventional septic system is often the most efficient and economical septic application.

A GOOD ABSORPTION FIELD HAS:

1.  Good leaching soil, free of limiting clay or rock layers, well above the water table
2.  Level and gently sloping elevation with good drainage
3.  Large, open area with no trees and good vegetation cover, preferable downhill from the dwelling.
4.  Area that is free of vehicle/equipment traffic and future building projects.

The TCEQ requires property owners to complete a soil test to determine the type and size of system that will accommodate the daily flow or anticipated water usage. A Registered Sanitarian (RS) can use a soil profile to determine the capacity of the soil to absorb water. Contact Cleburne Septic for help locating a RS in your area.

TYPES OF CONVENTIONAL SYSTEMS
Lateral systems approved in Texas include the traditional perforated pipe and gravel and the innovative chamber system.

Evap-Transpiration Absorption System. When a test reveals that soil will not support a conventional system, there are other alternatives besides aerobic treatment and conventional systems.  ETAs are constructed by adding washed sand and good topsoil to conventional lateral lines.

FAILING LATERAL SYSTEMS – OPTIONS
The life of a lateral system can range from 20 to 40 years depending on several factors including soil conditions, system capacity compared to usage and how the system was maintained. Remedies include:
  • Modification.  With an approved soil test in the expanded absorption field, TCEQ regulations allow homeowners to add lateral lines to an existing lateral system to increase absorption capacity. The original lateral lines must remain intact and functional. Add-ons can include pipe & gravel lines, chambers.
  • Total Lateral System Replacement.  When existing lateral systems have little or no capacity and new acceptable ground is available to install enough lateral lines to meet current size requirements for a new system based on the daily flow. (Soil test required.)
  • Aerobic System.  Historically, many conventional lateral systems were installed in poor absorbing soils characterized by high clay and rock content. When additional space or favorable soil is not available, an aerobic system may be the best septic solution.

Prior to investing in a septic system upgrade, make sure there are no impediments to the function of your existing system. Check the sewer and feed lines for breaks or clogs. Inspect household fixtures for leaks. We recommend a food color test for toilets. (Add food color to the toilet tank and see if it bleeds into the bowl.)
